We have been wrapped up in the happenings of the end of the soccer season events so I am so sorry it has taken me forever to update.
I am so proud to let you all know that Kayla and Kelsey's team won the Nevada 4A State Soccer game. The girls played against Douglas and they won 3 to 1. Kayla scored the third goal off of a breakaway. The wind was blowing really hard and it started pouring rain in the last few minutes of the game. The girls worked hard and left everything they had out on the field. The day was full of mixed emotions. We were ecstatic that they won, but we were sad at the same time because that game would be the last game that Kayla and Kelsey would play together in high school.
This is the third year in a row that Reed Girls Soccer has won the championship. No team has ever had a 3-peat in all of 4A high school girls soccer history. Kayla has had an impact in all three championships and Kelsey in two of the three.
This season was very successful for both of our girls. Kelsey ended her junior season with 7 goals and 13 assists and she was also awarded All-League First Team. Kayla ended her senior season with 25 goals and 7 assists and she was awarded All-League Offensive Player of the Year and All-League First Team. Kayla also broke the all time school record with 42 career goals.
